The thinning of skin occurs as we age. As we lose tissue, our skin will appear to have sunken areas and folds. Sculptra Aesthetic is a safe, synthetic material related to alpha-hydroxy acids (fruit acids). We inject this biocompatible filler below the surface of the skin in areas that have suffered fat loss, most commonly in the cheeks and temples.
Sculptra Aesthetic is made from poly-L-lactic acid, a biodegradable synthetic material that has been used by physicians for decades. Sculptra targets the underlying causes of the signs of aging, such as collagen loss. It works gradually in a series of treatments – an average of 3 injection sessions over a period of a few months – to produce a refined, more youthful-looking appearance. During the course of your treatments, Sculptra stimulates the replacement of collagen. Over time, you’ll notice changes to your face that can last up to 2 years.
Many of our dermal filler patients combine Sculptra with other fillers, such as JUVÉDERM® and Restylane®, and wrinkle reducers such as BOTOX® for optimal rejuvenation.
“Age doesn’t have to look the way it used to. It’s more subtle, more gradual. Shouldn’t your anti-age be just as subtle?”
– Dr. Gross
How Much Does Sculptra Cost?
In the Orlando area, the cost for Sculptra is $870 per vial. The total cost for a Sculptra treatment varies between patients and is based on individual needs and desired results. During your consultation, we will give you a quote that is personalized for you.
What to Expect
Because Sculptra is mixed with an anesthetic, you will feel only minor discomfort with your treatment. Visible improvements often occur within the first few weeks of treatment, but the Sculptra Aesthetic regimen is designed to deliver its unique effects over the course of a few months.
You will likely experience some temporary redness and swelling following your treatment, which you can alleviate by applying an ice pack for a few minutes. You will need to massage the treated area thoroughly for 5 minutes, 5 times per day, for about 5 days after your Sculptra injections. This will spread the medication evenly and prevent the formation of nodules (a rare but possible side effect).
“I usually see a significant increase in skin thickness as a result of Sculptra because each injection stimulates your body to produce collagen. This will improve sunken areas and folds in the skin.”
– Dr. Gross
