Dermabrasion helps “refinish” the skin’s top layers through a method of controlled surgical sanding. Most patients require 2 to 3 sessions for full results.
Following this treatment, we may also recommend either a pulsed dye laser treatment, microneedling, or laser skin resurfacing to improve your overall results.
Cost for Dermabrasion
At Primera Plastic Surgery near Orlando, the cost for a dermabrasion treatment depends on the areas being treated and the condition of your skin, as well as possibly other factors. In general, these treatments range from $100 to $500.
What to Expect
Performed under general anesthesia, this outpatient procedure takes 1 hour for the full face when performed at Primera Surgery Center. Patients may experience some pinkness and sun sensitivity in the days following treatment. Recovery time is 7 to 10 days.
Full results will occur after 6 months — the time required for full collagen stimulation and the formation of new skin cells. Multiple treatments and combination therapy are critical for patient success. As with any resurfacing procedure, strict attention to wound care and avoiding sun are crucial to your success.
“Dermabrasion is a powerful tool for improving depressed scars in patients with moderate to severe acne scarring. Deep acne scars and chicken pox scars of the face are the main indications for dermabrasion.”
