Do Botox® injections hurt?
There is little or no discomfort from Botox® injections. The sensation has been described as similar to a bug bite. You can resume normal activities immediately. After your treatment you will be instructed to use an ice compress for 10 minutes and refrain from manipulating the treated area for four hours after the procedure.
Do I need a follow up visit?
It is important to note that the results of Botox® injections are temporary and must be repeated to continue to enjoy the enhancement results. Dr. Gross is emphatic about the need for a 2 week follow up after each Botox® session in order to ensure the results are highly satisfactory to the patient.
How long does Botox® last?
The procedure is very quick and can be done in minutes. It is important to note that the results of Botox® injections are temporary and must be repeated to continue to enjoy the enhancement results. In most cases, the effects last from four to six months, and research indicates that the duration of benefits last longer with time. Initial results begin to be seen at 7 days and the peak effect is seen in 30 days.
What can Botox® do to my lines?
A smoothing of lines produces a more youthful appearance which will be observed within three to four days after the injections. "Crow's feet" respond well to Botox® and can be somewhat resistant to other cosmetic treatments.
What if I have neuromuscular disease?
Individuals with neuromuscular disease, such as myasthenia gravis, should not have Botox® injections. It is also contraindicated in those having an allergy to human albumin, as well as those who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
