Like its sister product, JUVÉDERM for lines and folds around the mouth, VOLUMA XC is made of a hyaluronic acid gel. This substance is crucial for keeping skin firm and hydrated, but it naturally diminishes as people age. VOLUMA XC’s gel is specifically formulated to be thicker and more durable, making it a great choice for injection at various depths in the cheek area.
Many of our patients are impressed by the instant results they achieve from a JUVÉDERM VOLUMA XC treatment. The process takes less than a half-hour and is very comfortable. VOLUMA XC is made with anesthetic lidocaine; in addition, we can apply a highly effective topical anesthetic called BLT to numb your cheeks before your injections. We precisely inject small amounts of the VOLUMA XC gel at different spots around your cheeks, using trained aesthetic eyes and hands to provide results that look symmetrical and natural.
Dr. Gross may also recommend combining VOLUMA XC treatments with other injectables for different concerns. Other dermal fillers, such as Restylane® work well for various wrinkles and folds around the face, and BOTOX® Cosmetic can erase fine lines near the eyes and brows. As minimally invasive treatments, injections of JUVÉDERM VOLUMA XC require little to no downtime. Temporary redness, swelling, bruising, and tenderness may be present at your injection sites, but these effects are mild and fade within a few days.
We recommend patients avoid certain medications, such as aspirin and ibuprofen, for several days before their treatment to minimize the risk of bleeding and bruising.
While experiences vary, results are typically visible right away, and most patients need only one injection session. The enhanced facial contours typically last up to 2 years, making VOLUMA XC one of the longest-lasting fillers available. Some patients benefit from a “touch up” treatment a few months after their initial injections.
