Obagi Blue Peel Before & After Photos (Total pictures in this category: 2)
Unlike common alpha-hydroxy peels or at-home procedures, the Obagi Blue Peel puts control of your treatment in professional hands. Based on your individual needs and skin condition, Dr. Gross determines the strength of the peel. This can be 15, 20, or 25% TCA, as adjusted by Dr. Gross. This is a good solution for lightening the pigmentation areas of the face in darker complexions and is always combined with a hydroquinone product to even out skin tones.
The Obagi Blue Peel uses Trichloroacetic Acid (TCA) as the active ingredient mixed with the patented Blue Base. The base acts as an emulsifier and slows the penetration of the peel into the skin, according to Dr. Gross. “The Blue Peel gives me a great deal of control on depth of peeling”, says Dr. Gross. He will apply the Obagi Blue Peel based on your level of sun-damage and your desired level of transformation.
The Blue peel is more aggressive than an Alpha-hydroxy or Beta peel, but the recovery is still less than a week. Patients will see the skin dehydrate and become bronze by the 2nd or 3rd day. Then the exfoliation begins and the fresh new skin apperars. The process is quite dramatic and the results are a healthier complexion and glow to the skin.

How long will it take?
The Obagi Blue Peel procedure takes less than an hour in our office and does not typically require sedation. Dr. Gross will apply the Blue Peel typically to your face and neck. A mild burning sensation will occur that generally lasts only a few minutes. Then you may experience a bluish tint to your skin that usually washes off in 12 to 24 hours. Your skin professional will advise you on how many peels are needed to give you the desired result.
What are the possible side effects of Obagi Blue Peel?
Depending on the strength and depth following the procedure, you will experience light swelling. Within two to three days, your skin will begin to peel in a dry fashion. This peeling continues over the next several days. By the fifth to seventh day, your skin should be healed.
When can I expect to see final results?
Once your skin has completely recovered and is finished peeling, you will notice a visible improvement in your complexion. Your skin’s appearance should continue to improve for the next four to six weeks, becoming firmer, clearer, smoother, healthier and more youthful looking.
What should be expected during recovery?
Depending on the depth level of the Blue Peel, healing time is between 3 and 7 days. After the procedure, you will experience light swelling and your skin will begin to peel within 2 to 3 days.
The blue peel was perfect. My recovery was quick and my brown spots were gone in 3 days. I’ ll be doing another blue peel next year too. It was just the right peel for my skin.
